Quick Guide for Staff on Professional Code of Conduct
- Respect & Dignity
Treat clients, families, colleagues and facility staff with respect,
compassion and cultural sensitivity
Support each person's dignity,
independence and rights.
2. Safe & Quality Care
Work within your training and scope of practice. Follow facility procedures
and ACNS policies.
Report risks, incidents and safety concerns immediately.
3. Professional Behaviour
Act honestly and with integrity. Maintain professional boundaries.
Treat everyone fairly. Harassment, discrimination or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
4. Professional Boundaries
Do not accept money or significant gifts, form personal relationships with
clients, or become involved in a client's financial matters.
5. Communication
Communicate clearly with facility teams and colleagues.
Participate in appropriate handovers to support safe and continuous care.
6. Confidentiality
Protect client and workplace information.
Do not share confidential information or post workplace content on social media.
7. Professional Appearance
Wear clean uniform or appropriate clothing, closed non-slip footwear and
an ID badge.
Maintain good hygiene.
Avoid strong fragrances.
Jewellery must be minimal for safety and infection control.
8. Fitness for Duty
Do not attend work if affected by illness, injury, fatigue, alcohol, illicit drugs or misuse of medication.
9. Workplace Safety
Follow safe work practices, use proper manual handling techniques and
PPE, and report hazards or injuries promptly.
10. Speak Up
Report concerns about safety, abuse, neglect or misconduct to facility
management or ACNS leadership.
